"Hardware Maven"

Allison Korczynski, Microsoft

"I know that there’s a lot of women out there who want to be hands-on, who want to build stuff, and I think that they need to understand that there’s a lot you can do with programming, and there’s a lot you can do with hardware."

Allison Korczynski is an electrical engineer at Microsoft, where she designs the hardware for surface tablets and works with manufacturers to ensure that her designs can effectively be produced at a large scale. She’s even had a chance to go to China to observe the manufacturing process! Prior to her current position at Microsoft, she interned at Apple, Nest, and IBM. She is excited about the integration of hardware and software, and would love to spread the word to women everywhere that engineering is an awesome, hands-on exercise in creative problem solving. In addition to sailing and music, she spends her free time using her combined knowledge of software and hardware to build interactive Halloween costumes.
